Seton SA (Pty) Ltd is Africas most comprehensive facility for the production of automotive leathers and is widely recognised as Africas leading automotive leather tannery.
The tannery was established in 1965, started supplying automotive leathers in the late 1970s and was purchased and further modernised by Seton in 1996. The Seton facility has the capacity of processing and cutting several thousand of hides per day and provide full-grain and corrected-grain hides, which are either chrome-tanned or chrome-free (depending on customer specifications), to numerous client worldwide.
Seton runs a three shift system employing approximately 1500 employees.
Why did Seton decide to go with Talenger?
The primary drivers for such a decision were:
- Seton required an integrated solution that covered all aspects of Human Resources as well as payroll management. Most systems that were investigated were not truly integrated and required the uploading of files to various databases. The Talenger system offered a single database with real time updates.
- Seton set a target to reduce the amount of paper transactions thereby reducing functions that were both time consuming and inaccurate. The Talenger system with its unique leave management and self service modules for employees and management met the criteria for a reduction in paper based transactions.
- Integration with third party systems such as accounting, manufacturing, benefit fund administration and external training systems was a prerequisite for any chosen system. Talenger with its unique web sphere integration module demonstrated the flexibility and ease with which integration to third party software could be achieved.
- The final selection criterion was ease of use. Seton set a benchmark of four hours training per self service user for the individual to become proficient and to navigate through the system with ease. The Talenger system demonstrated its user friendly design and coupled with the easy to understand training manuals and on line help the required criteria was met.
